Let’s all be honest, we miss 35% of a tooth’s surface by not flossing daily and most of us have 28-33 teeth. If we thought of our home care (brushing 2 times a day, flossing once) as a grade, we would get a 65%… 😟
As we floss, it removes the food and bacteria trapped not only between our teeth but also below our gum line (the junction where our tooth meets our gum). That bacteria forms a film which then forms plaque; and if it is continuously missed, the plaque becomes hard and calcified called calculus or “tartar”. This bacterial layer cause the gums to become red, inflamed, and/or bleed. Not flossing can result in gingivitis, periodontal disease, cavities, or worse tooth loss.
If you would like more tips or tricks on flossing, just ask. We would be happy to help! 😃
